New Delhi, India, 22 January 2026: Kia India, one of the country’s leading mass-premium automakers, has announced a major sales milestone for its popular subcompact SUV, the Kia Sonet. The model has surpassed cumulative sales of 5 lakh units in the Indian market, underscoring strong customer trust and Kia’s growing acceptance in one of India’s most competitive automotive segments.
The milestone reflects Kia India’s customer-centric approach and its commitment to delivering meaningful, well-rounded mobility solutions tailored to Indian consumers. Since its launch, the Sonet has emerged as a key pillar of Kia’s domestic portfolio, symbolising the brand’s ability to resonate with a wide spectrum of buyers, from first-time car owners to young families.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said, “Crossing the 5 lakh sales milestone for the Sonet is a moment of pride for all of us at Kia India. Every Sonet sold represents a customer who believed in Kia, and this achievement is a powerful endorsement of the trust Indian buyers have placed in our brand. Our focus on meaningful design, advanced technology and dependable performance has clearly resonated with customers across the country. We are deeply grateful to our customers for being an integral part of this journey.”
Developed to reflect the aspirations of modern, forward-looking Indian customers, the Kia Sonet introduced a bold and contemporary approach to the subcompact SUV segment. It combines distinctive design, advanced features, responsive performance and everyday practicality. Manufactured in India under Kia’s ‘Make in India, for the World’ vision, the Sonet has consistently evolved in line with changing customer expectations, setting new benchmarks in its category.
The Sonet currently contributes nearly 35 percent of Kia India’s domestic sales volumes, playing a significant role in expanding the brand’s footprint across the country. Its success extends beyond India as well, with more than 100,000 units exported to nearly 70 global markets, including the Middle East and Africa, Central and South America, Mexico and the APAC region. This global reach reinforces international confidence in India-made Kia products.
Customer response to the Sonet has remained strong across both urban centres and emerging markets. The model has crossed annual sales of 1 lakh units for two consecutive years, demonstrating sustained demand and loyalty. A wide range of powertrain options, transmission choices and feature-rich variants has offered customers greater flexibility, while the increasing preference for higher trims highlights growing demand for connected, safe and premium mobility solutions.
As Kia India continues to expand its product portfolio and brand presence with over 820 touchpoints across more than 369 cities, the Sonet remains a defining symbol of customer trust, global relevance and the company’s innovation-led growth strategy.
