Mahindra & Mahindra has expanded its lifestyle SUV portfolio with the launch of the Thar ROXX STAR Edition in India. Positioned as a more exclusive and design-focused variant of the Thar ROXX lineup, the new STAR Edition is priced at ₹16.85 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory) and brings multiple cosmetic, comfort and technology upgrades while retaining the SUV’s well-known mechanical strengths.
Unveiled on January 23, 2026, the Thar ROXX STAR Edition is aimed at buyers who want a more premium and distinctive version of Mahindra’s popular lifestyle SUV without compromising on capability.

Visually, the Thar ROXX STAR Edition stands apart with a darker, more sophisticated design theme. The front fascia now features a piano black grille, replacing the standard finish and giving the SUV a bold yet upscale appearance.
Complementing this are R19 piano black alloy wheels, which further enhance the Thar ROXX’s commanding road presence.
Mahindra has also introduced a new hero shade called Citrine Yellow, adding a vibrant and sporty option to the colour palette. Other available colours include Tango Red, Everest White and Stealth Black, giving customers a mix of bold and understated choices.

Inside the cabin, the STAR Edition gets a clear premium upgrade. The SUV now comes with all-black leatherette seats with suede accents, creating a darker, more luxurious ambience compared to the standard Thar ROXX variants. Front seats are ventilated, while rear passengers benefit from 60:40 split seats with multipoint recline, improving long-distance comfort.
Additional comfort features include a sliding armrest, fully automatic climate control, electric-folding ORVMs, steering-mounted controls, cruise control and a tyre direction monitoring system. The overall cabin design focuses on richer materials and a more refined lifestyle-SUV feel.
Technology and infotainment features
The Thar ROXX STAR Edition is well equipped on the tech front. It features a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system paired with a fully digital HD instrument cluster of the same size. Mahindra’s Adrenox connected car technology is standard, offering Alexa built-in functionality and access to over 83 connected features.
Smartphone connectivity is supported via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, both wired and wireless. The audio experience is handled by a 9-speaker Harman Kardon QuantumLogic premium sound system, while convenience features such as approach unlock and walk-away lock add to the premium appeal.

Safety continues to be a strong focus for Mahindra. The Thar ROXX STAR Edition is engineered to meet a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and comes equipped with six airbags covering front, side and curtain protection. Standard safety features also include tyre pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, auto-dimming IRVM, impact-sensing auto door unlock, immobiliser and E-call and SOS functionality.
Mahindra Thar ROXX STAR Edition engine and drivetrain options
Mechanically, the STAR Edition retains Mahindra’s proven powertrains. Buyers can choose between the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 130 kW and 380 Nm of torque, while the diesel delivers 128.6 kW and 400 Nm of torque.
Both engines are available with manual and automatic transmission options, and all variants come with a rear-wheel-drive layout. Off-road hardware includes Mahindra’s M_GLYDE body-on-frame platform, selectable XPLOR terrain modes for snow, sand and mud, a brake-locking differential and second-generation adventure statistics.
