Tata Motors is preparing a significant update for its best-selling micro-SUV, the Punch, with the facelifted version expected to arrive in India sometime in 2026. Ahead of its official debut, a heavily camouflaged test vehicle has been spotted testing on public roads in Munnar, Kerala, giving away several clues about what’s changing in the popular model.
The refreshed Punch will become part of Tata’s wider product refresh strategy, joining recently updated or facelifted models such as the Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Harrier and Safari. Despite the camouflage, the test mule reveals that this update goes well beyond cosmetic tweaks, especially on the inside.
Exterior design : Familiar shape, sharper attitude

From the spy shots, it is clear that Tata has retained the Punch’s boxy and upright silhouette, which has been key to its strong road presence. However, the facelift introduces a more aggressive design language inspired by Tata’s newer SUVs.
Key exterior highlights include:
Overall, the facelift focuses on making the Punch look more contemporary without altering its original character.
Interior changes: Bigger screens and more tech

The biggest upgrades are expected inside the cabin, where Tata appears to be pushing the Punch closer to the premium end of the micro-SUV segment.
Interior upgrades likely to include:
There are also strong indications that Tata could introduce advanced comfort and safety features, including ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and blind-spot monitoring, depending on the variant lineup.
Engine and transmission details
Mechanically, the 2026 Punch facelift is expected to remain unchanged. Tata Motors is likely to continue offering the familiar 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. The CNG variant will also return, featuring Tata’s twin-cylinder setup that helps preserve usable boot space. The test vehicle spotted in Kerala is believed to be the CNG version.
With improved styling, a tech-heavy cabin, and no compromise on practicality, the 2026 Tata Punch facelift is shaping up to be a meaningful upgrade rather than a minor refresh.
