Hyundai Motor India Limited has officially stepped into the commercial mobility space with the launch of its new Prime Taxi range in India. The lineup includes two models – Prime HB (hatchback) and Prime SD (sedan) – developed specifically for taxi operators and fleet owners.
Designed to cater to the growing demand for reliable and cost-effective commercial vehicles, the Prime range focuses on high uptime, lower running costs and passenger comfort. Both models are powered by Hyundai’s proven 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder engine, available with petrol and company-fitted CNG options.
The Prime HB is priced from Rs 5.99 lakh, while the Prime SD starts at Rs 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the new taxi range have commenced across Hyundai dealerships nationwide with a booking amount of Rs 5,000.
Hyundai is offering the Prime Taxi range with features aimed at both driver convenience and passenger safety. Standard equipment includes six airbags, rear AC vents, steering-mounted audio controls, front and rear power windows, rear parking sensors, central locking and emergency stop signal. A company-fitted speed limiting function capped at 80 km/h is also standard.
In terms of efficiency, the Prime SD delivers a claimed mileage of 28.40 km/kg on CNG, while the Prime HB offers 27.32 km/kg, making them suitable for high-mileage commercial usage. Hyundai states that the low running costs and predictable maintenance will help taxi operators improve earnings per kilometre.
To further support commercial customers, Hyundai is offering extended warranty packages covering the fourth and fifth year or up to 1.8 lakh kilometres. Flexible finance options with repayment tenures of up to 72 months are also available, subject to financier approval. Dedicated fleet care advisors will be available at dealerships to assist taxi and fleet customers.
Optional accessories include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear-view camera, and a vehicle location tracking device with four panic buttons, enhancing safety and compliance for commercial operations.
The Prime HB and Prime SD will be available in three exterior colours – Atlas White, Typhoon Silver and Abyss Black. With this launch, Hyundai aims to extend its passenger vehicle reliability and service reach into the commercial mobility segment, targeting both individual taxi entrepreneurs and large fleet operators across India.
