After recent spy shots, the MG Cloud EV is officially teased, hinting at an exciting festive season launch as India’s next stylish crossover-SUV, set to mirror the Comet EV’s success.
The teaser reveals little beyond a connected LED DRL strip, but expect the MG Cloud EV to sport a sleek SUV-crossover blend, comparable in size to compact SUVs like the Creta or Seltos.
The Cloud EV’s front end boasts a split headlight setup with substantial bumper-mounted housings, while its sleek side profile features a long roofline and smooth contours, complemented by stylish 18-inch alloys.
Echoing the front design, the rear of the Cloud EV features a minimalist connected strip for the taillights, stretching elegantly across the tailgate.
Although no interior teasers are available, expect the Cloud EV’s cabin to mirror the global model with a minimalist design, featuring a prominent 15.6-inch free-floating touchscreen, a black and bronze color scheme, and a wood dashboard inlay—though the India-specific version might offer unique touches.
Abroad, the Cloud EV boasts an array of features like an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, 6-way power driver’s seat, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and a wireless phone charger. The teaser confirms it will also include a panoramic sunroof.
The Cloud EV’s safety suite includes 4 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold assist, electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
MG has yet to reveal details about the Cloud EV’s powertrain, but in Indonesia, it features a 50.6 kWh battery paired with a 136 PS/200 Nm front-wheel motor, offering a CLTC-claimed range of 460 km.
Alternatively, some global markets offer a smaller 37.9 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 360 km. It remains unclear which powertrain will be available in India.
We anticipate the Cloud EV will be priced around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it below the current ZS EV SUV in MG’s lineup.
The crossover SUV is expected to launch around the festive season, entering competition with the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 400, and entry-level variants of the Tata Curvv EV.
