Pune, July 6, 2025 — In a significant manufacturing milestone, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has produced its 500,000th Škoda vehicle in India. The achievement reflects the Group’s deep-rooted commitment to India, bolstered by world-class quality standards, localisation, and trust in Indian manufacturing capabilities.

The milestone units were rolled out across two state-of-the-art facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad), with the Pune plant contributing nearly 70% of the production.

Celebrating Legacy and Innovation

Since the production of the first Škoda Octavia in 2001, Škoda Auto has steadily expanded its Indian footprint with popular models such as the Laura, Superb, Kodiaq, Kushaq, Slavia, and the newly introduced sub-4-meter Kylaq. These vehicles have not only catered to domestic preferences but also strengthened Škoda’s emotional connect with Indian consumers.

Speaking on the occasion, Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics, Škoda Auto a.s., said:

“Achieving the 500,000 production mark in India is a proud reflection of our long-term vision and operational excellence. Through localisation and the adoption of global manufacturing best practices, we have built an agile, scalable ecosystem aligned with the highest international benchmarks.”

Piyush Arora, CEO and Managing Director, SAVWIPL, added:

“This is more than a number—it’s 500,000 relationships built with customers who trust in our promise of quality, comfort, safety, and European engineering. The milestone comes as Škoda Auto celebrates 130 years globally and 25 years in India, making it a moment of great pride for our teams and stakeholders alike.”

India’s Strategic Role in Škoda’s Global Plans

India has emerged as a key pillar in Škoda’s global growth strategy. The company has extended its manufacturing footprint beyond Indian borders, with parts and components from India being assembled at Škoda’s new production facility in Vietnam. The Kushaq and Slavia models will be locally produced in Vietnam, positioning India as a vital export and manufacturing hub.

This is also aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India, for the World’ vision—where domestic manufacturing supports both local consumption and international supply chains.

Milestone Year and Sales High

In addition to the production achievement, Škoda recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in March 2025, delivering 7,422 units. The milestone comes in a year when Škoda Auto is also celebrating its 130th anniversary globally and 25 years of operations in India.

Behind every vehicle produced lies the contribution of a skilled Indian workforce, cutting-edge technology, and unwavering customer trust—hallmarks of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India’s journey toward becoming a manufacturing powerhouse.
