Bengaluru, March 27, 2026 – Ultraviolette Automotive has announced a major five-year investment plan aimed at expanding its manufacturing footprint in Karnataka. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to support its expansion strategy, which will include increased production capacity at its existing facility and the development of a new manufacturing plant in the state.

The agreement was formalised during the Invest Karnataka Conclave in Bengaluru, in the presence of M. B. Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries. As part of the collaboration, the state government has proposed incentive support including Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes and fast-track facilitation for the project.

The planned expansion will be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, the company will expand manufacturing capacity at its existing facility with a proposed investment of ₹200 crore. The second phase involves setting up a new production plant in Karnataka with an annual production capacity of 150,000 units. The investment is expected to generate employment opportunities, strengthen local manufacturing ecosystems, and accelerate innovation in India’s electric vehicle sector.

Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette Automotive, said Karnataka has played a central role in the company’s growth journey. He noted that the proposed expansion reflects the company’s confidence in the state’s EV ecosystem, skilled workforce, and supportive policy environment. According to him, Karnataka’s infrastructure readiness and proactive governance provide a strong foundation for the company’s next phase of growth.

Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette Automotive, added that the state has been home to the company’s research and development efforts since its inception. He highlighted Karnataka’s strong engineering talent base, supplier ecosystem, and proximity to major industrial hubs as key advantages that have helped the company develop world-class products locally.

Headquartered in Bengaluru, Ultraviolette is known for its high-performance electric motorcycles including the Ultraviolette F77 and the upcoming Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover. The company combines proprietary battery technology with futuristic design and performance engineering.

Ultraviolette has also been expanding its retail presence across India and currently operates more than 40 experience centres across major cities. The company plans to expand its presence to 100 cities by the end of 2026.

Internationally, the brand has begun expanding into global markets and is currently present in 12 European countries including Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. With this expansion, Ultraviolette has become one of the first Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturers to enter Europe, and it plans to further scale operations across Asia and Latin America.

Founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette focuses on developing advanced EV platforms and battery technology. The company is backed by global investors including Lingotto, TDK Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Zoho Corporation, TVS Motor Company, and Speciale Invest. It is also the first Indian electric motorcycle manufacturer to secure European certification for its products.
