Kia India has announced the launch of its new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) finance program for the Kia Carens Clavis EV, aiming to make electric vehicle ownership more affordable and accessible for Indian customers.
The company introduced the dual-loan financing model as part of its strategy to accelerate EV adoption in India by reducing the high upfront cost typically associated with electric vehicles. Under the BaaS structure, customers can separately finance the vehicle chassis and the battery pack, offering improved flexibility and lower initial ownership costs.
With the new finance scheme, customers can own the Kia Carens Clavis EV starting at INR 51,520, while the battery usage cost is structured at INR 3.3 per kilometre. The financing program is supported by leading financial institutions including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finserv.
According to Kia India, the financing structure offers repayment tenures of up to 60 months for the vehicle body and up to 96 months for the battery component, helping customers reduce their monthly financial burden while transitioning to electric mobility.
Commenting on the initiative, Sunhack Park said that the BaaS model is designed to create a complete EV ecosystem that simplifies electric vehicle adoption and provides greater financial flexibility to customers.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV, launched as Kia’s first made-in-India electric vehicle, has received positive customer response for its practicality, technology, and design. The company believes the new BaaS program will further strengthen the vehicle’s appeal in the growing Indian EV market.
To support EV customers, Kia India has also expanded its charging and service ecosystem. Through the K-Charge platform integrated within the MyKia app, users can access more than 15,000 charging points across India along with EV route planning, live charger availability, and digital payment features. Additionally, over 100 Kia dealerships now feature DC fast chargers, supported by more than 267 EV-ready workshops nationwide.
