Maruti Suzuki India Limited has established an Advanced Manufacturing Lab (AML) at Government ITI Hassangarh under its CSR-led skill development initiative, aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India mission.
Located in Rohtak, Haryana, the new facility aims to provide students with industry-relevant technical training and hands-on exposure to modern automotive manufacturing practices. Around 200 students are expected to receive training in the Smart Factory Lab during the first year itself.
The Advanced Manufacturing Lab has been designed to replicate real-world shop-floor environments and will offer practical training in key automobile manufacturing areas including assembly, welding, painting, machining, mechatronics, and industrial safety. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between classroom education and the rapidly evolving requirements of the automotive sector.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sachin Gupta along with senior officials from Maruti Suzuki and representatives of the institute.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the initiative is aimed at bringing real shop-floor learning and modern manufacturing systems into classrooms. He added that the programme will help equip students with industry-ready skills and support the development of a future-ready manufacturing workforce in India.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta described the initiative as a major milestone for skill development in Rohtak and said the lab would help create an ecosystem where academic learning aligns closely with modern industrial requirements. He noted that the facility would contribute towards developing a technically skilled workforce capable of supporting India’s manufacturing growth and global competitiveness.
During the event, offer letters were also distributed to selected students who will join Maruti Suzuki as apprentices after completing their courses through campus placements.
Maruti Suzuki currently supports 31 ITIs across India in manufacturing-related trades. The company has already established 18 Advanced Manufacturing Labs nationwide as part of its CSR initiatives to create industry-oriented learning environments.
In addition, the company operates four Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing (JIMs) located in Gujarat and Haryana. These institutes focus on advanced manufacturing training, Japanese shop-floor management practices, and soft skills development to improve industry readiness among students.
According to the company, the overall objective of these initiatives is to strengthen employability, enhance technical competencies, and develop skilled manpower for India’s growing manufacturing ecosystem.
