Kia India has officially unveiled the first images of the upcoming Kia Sorento ahead of its India launch. The premium three-row SUV has also entered local production at Kia’s Anantapur manufacturing facility, with the first India-made Sorento rolling off the production line.
The Kia Sorento is scheduled to make its official India debut on September 4, 2026, while pre-bookings are already open through Kia India dealerships and the company’s official website.
The production of the Kia Sorento has commenced at Kia India’s Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh. The first locally manufactured unit rolled off the production line on August 20, 2026.
Kia’s Anantapur facility has been central to the company’s India operations since production began in 2019. With the Sorento now being manufactured locally, Kia aims to bring its global flagship SUV closer to Indian customers while strengthening its premium SUV line-up.
The newly revealed official images showcase the Kia Sorento’s commanding road presence and progressive design language.
The SUV features confident proportions, a prominent stance and distinctive exterior detailing designed to give it a premium and sophisticated appearance. Kia says the India-spec Sorento has been developed as a vehicle “built in India for India”, while retaining the brand’s latest global design philosophy.
Inside, the Sorento is expected to offer a contemporary and premium cabin focused on comfort and technology, further positioning it as a flagship family SUV.
One of the biggest highlights of the new Kia Sorento is its powertrain strategy for the Indian market.
The Sorento will become Kia’s first hybrid SUV in India to feature an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. This combination is expected to appeal to buyers looking for improved efficiency along with enhanced traction and driving capability.
However, Kia is not limiting the SUV to electrification. The Sorento will also be available with a Diesel engine, giving buyers a choice between Hybrid and Diesel powertrains depending on their driving requirements and ownership preferences.
Another major technology highlight of the India-spec Kia Sorento will be the Kia AI Assistant.
